 Questions

Do ALL teachers have to attend the Basic Implementation Training?
Yes.  In order for all staff members to fully participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), they need to have a common knowledge base, concept understanding and shared vision.  The EISS Basic Implementation Training is designed to meet this need with research-based best practices.  It is one of the assurances that all teachers agree to for participation and grant funding.

Can multiple preschools apply together?
Yes.   It is recommended that they be a reasonable distance geographically.

Do previous grant recipients get preferential treatment on grant scoring?
No.  All grants are read "blind" and are scored based upon a normed rubric.

Will our school site receive the full funding up front?
No.  EISS is a reimbursement grant.  You can submit reimbursement forms as needed.  Please contact the EISS office for more information.

What if one of our teachers is unable to sign the commitment form?
If your application is incomplete, it will not be reviewed.  As long as you have the required number of teachers for the funding you are seeking, you can add additional teachers at the Basic Implementation Training.

What happens if we go over the designated number of pages?
Reviewers will be directed not to read beyond the required page limit.

How will we know if we are funded?
All granted school sites will be listed on the EISS website on the designated day.  They can be found under the blue tab "EISS Schools" at the top of the website.

Our School Board is meeting after the grant application is due, can we still submit an application?
Yes.  The application will be read with no penalty.  Funding of the grant application is contingent upon receipt of board approval.

Even though coaching is not required the first year of the grant, can we still receive coaching?
Yes.  Coaching is optional the first year, but HIGHLY recommended.  The coaching is designed to help school sites meet their individual EISS goals.

Can we reapply for funding immediately after our second year?
No.  School sites must wait one year before reapplying.  This allows more school sites to receive the benefits of the EISS program.  It also allows each site time to re-evaluate their needs and develop a concise action plan.

Can we move funding from Year 1 to Year 2?
Yes.  You will be notified of the deadline for budget modifications from Year 1 to Year 2.  No monies can be carried over past Year 2.
